Community Marketing Leader

Mobilewalla is looking for a product and community marketing leader with a track record of building open source communities and bringing new products and concepts to market. The ideal candidate has a mix of marketing and technical skills and can help engage with the data science community and drive product packaging, positioning, messaging and generate demand.

This leader needs to actively engage with our open source community and exhibit a deep understanding of markets and buyers to develop and implement a product’s go-to-market strategy. The product and community marketing leader must work cross-functionally, unifying and motivating peers from different functions to support ongoing open source project usage as well as successful commercial product launches. The product and community marketing leader must build a deep understanding of users and their needs and become a subject matter expert (SME) sharing knowledge with the user community as well as across the marketing and sales functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage an engaged community of open source project users to help drive product adoption and increased usage
  • Define and implement a “bottom up” selling strategy for a new product offering in the machine learning market space
  • Create marketing campaigns to convert open source project users into paid product customers
  • Implement “top down” marketing campaigns to build brand and create demand for new products and services in the machine learning market space
  • Influence product development through voice of the customer and a deep understanding of market requirements
  • Develop product positioning, value propositions and messaging that resonate with the buying audience and produce the source messaging framework
  • Write and socialize product-level documents including: marketing plan, sales enablement plan, launch plan, competitive analysis and solution handbook
  • Manage launch planning and orchestrate execution of the commercial release of a product
  • Provide market and buyer insights to drive the development of campaign strategies including awareness and demand creation
  • Support the development of customer references, testimonials and case studies for external and internal use


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (marketing, computer science, business, etc.)
  • Seven to ten years of product marketing or user community management experience
  • More than ten years of technology company experience
  • Experience working at a technology company that has implemented a “bottom up” sales strategy
  • Experience working with open source technologies
  • Experience working with data science, machine learning or AI technologies a plus
  • Product management or business analyst experience a plus
  • Strong writing, communication, presentation development and delivery skills
  • Collaborative and able to work across functional teams
  • Experience with Hubspot and/or Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience working at growth-stage companies is a plus
